 style="text-align:justify;">Le marbre de Pourcieux a une
 particularite, les veines sont de couleur rouge ! C’est un marbre
 chamarre localement appele « rouge Var ». Ce lieu a ete exploite
 sous louis XIV en vue d'embellir certaines demeures du roi. On
 coupait alors la roche a l'huile de coude (marteau burin et barre a
 mine). A compter de la fin du XIXe, un cable entraine par un moteur
 thermique facilitait la coupe. Les bons blocs etaient polis
 (appellation marbre) et les dechets transformes en chaux ou materiaux
 de construction.</p>
